Gusties Sweep SJU in the Pool

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus won all 16 events in a 236-59 dual win over Saint John's on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Warner Palaestra Pool.

Sophomore Mitchell Dockendorf (St. Stephen, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) shaved nearly two seconds from his season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle to place second (1:49.41) and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle (49.55).

Sophomore Eli Greenblat (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and senior Jacob Upton (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) went 1 (1:01.97)-2 (1:03.01) in the 100-yard breaststroke, while freshman Steven Froehle (DuPont, Wash./Steilacoom) took second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.29).

Sophomore Mick Olson (Fullerton, Calif./Troy) claimed second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.28) and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.61).

Junior Caleb Birklid (Anoka, Minn.) and freshman Spencer Atkinson (Litchfield, Minn.) finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.56) and 100-yard backstroke (56.66), respectively.

SJU's 200-yard freestyle (1:30.44; Dockendorf, Froehle, Birklid, Atkinson) and 200-yard medley (1:40.44; Dockendorf, Greenblat, Ryan Pauley, Froehle) relays both claimed third.

The Johnnies return to competition at the 2019 MIAC Championships Feb. 14-17 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
