SJU Soccer Ends Season With Loss at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's soccer ended its 2018 season with a 2-0 loss at Carleton on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Northfield.

Following a scoreless first half, Marco da Cunha scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, his MIAC-leading 11th of the season, for Carleton (14-1-2, 7-1-2 MIAC) 5:58 into the second frame.

Trevor Freeland added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute.

Junior Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.) made two saves in the loss for SJU (8-7-1, 4-6-0 MIAC). Junior Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) played the game's final 17:50 in net but did not face a shot.

Junior forward Ben Becker (Richfield, Minn./Holy Angels) and senior midfielder Zack Boerjan (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) led SJU with two shots apiece.

The Knights recorded slight statistical advantages in shots (16-10), shots on goal (4-2) and corner kicks (6-4).
