Box Score

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Saint John's soccer team utilized a late, game-tying goal in a 1-1 tie at Bethel on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Arden Hills.

Freshman forward Paul Wadsworth (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium) tied the game at 1-1 for the Johnnies (2-4-2, 1-2-2 MIAC) with just 70 ticks left on the scoreboard. Senior midfielder Tyler Street (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) was on top of the 18-yard mark and slotted a pass up the middle to Wadsworth, who calmly sent it to the back of the net for his second goal in as many games. Wadsworth scored the game-winning tally in overtime (2-1) Sept. 26 against Augsburg.

Andrew Zwart broke the scoreless tie for Bethel (3-6-2, 1-2-1 MIAC) with his first goal of the season in the 71st minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Payton Spencer (Hudson, Wis.) made four saves for the Johnnies.

The 1-1 draw marks only the second time the teams have tied since 1980.

The Johnnies travel to Wisconsin-Whitewater for a non-conference game at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1.
