Saint John's track and field opens its outdoor season by hosting a four-team invitational on Saturday, March 25, in Collegeville. Field events are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., followed by track competition at noon. ā

Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) earned All-MIAC honors with a third-place finish in the high jump. Senior
Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) achieved his first All-MIAC honor, indoors, with a third-place finish in the 35-pound weight throw.

Max Martin (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) earned All-MIAC distinction with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, 0.09 of a second ahead of junior
Mitch Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) in fourth.
Senior
Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) became the first Johnnie to win the MIAC indoor title in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:43.30. He took third in the event last year, as did Andy Keenan '02 in 2002 and Willie Versen '14 in 2013.Ā

Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) earned his fifth All-MIAC honor in the triple jump (second indoors) with a third-place finish Saturday. Junior
Colton Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./South Ridge) chipped in four team points with a fifth-place finish. Senior
Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) rounded out SJU's All-MIAC honors with a third-place finish in the pole vault.

Jordan Theisen (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo), were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Central Region honorees for the 2017 NCAA Division III indoor track and field season March 6. To be named All-Region, a student-athlete must be either ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.
The two tied with a season-best height of 4.61 meters. Olson recorded his mark to earn his third All-MIAC distinction at the 2017 MIAC Indoor Championships. Theisen, meanwhile, registered his height of 4.61 meters to finish second March 3 at the St. Olaf Qualifier.
WHO WILL BE HERE: The Johnnies are scheduled to host participants from Concordia-Moorhead, Hamline, Martin Luther, Division II Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota-Morris on Saturday.
