Johnnies Win Eight Events, Top Hamline 144-89

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's swimming and diving won eight events in a 144-89 dual victory at Hamline on Friday, Jan. 13, in St. Paul.

Senior Kenny Bergman (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, while senior Jose Alvarez (North Bay Village, Fla./Belen Jesuit) won the 100-yard breaststroke and sophomore Jacob Upton (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley.

Junior Josh Tomporowski (St. Cloud, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) claimed first in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.

The Johnnies' 200-yard freestyle (Luke Heller, Andrew Urness, Sam Konsor, Bergman) and medley (Alvarez, Upton, Konsor, Heller) relays both took first place.

The Johnnies return to St. Paul for the St. Thomas Invitational at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
