LA CROSSE, Wis. – No. 3/4 Wisconsin-La Crosse handed Saint John's a 10-0 defeat in the winner's bracket of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Thursday, May 19, at Copeland Park.
The Johnnies (29-13) will play the third seed, No. 15/16 North Central of Illinois (31-11), in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20.
The defending national runner-up and top seed in this year's regional, UWL (36-8) entered the game batting .371 and averaging 9.5 runs per game this season.
The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added three unearned runs in the second.
The Eagles' Taylor Kohlwey entered the game batting .497 on the year and extended his hitting streak to 47 games, the second-longest in NCAA Division III history, with an RBI double in the first inning. He ended the game 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
Justin Anderson added to his RBI total with five on the day thanks to a 4-for-6 showing at the plate. His two-run homer in the sixth inning made it 8-0. Anderson entered the contest batting .452 and now has 77 RBI in 44 games this spring.
