Final Results
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's finished second out of 11 teams at the 2016 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 14, at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
St. Thomas won the team title with a total of 184 points, followed by SJU (156.5), Hamline (108.5) and St. Olaf (98).
The top-two finish outdoors is the Johnnies' 10th in the last 14 years and the 18 All-MIAC honors (top three individually, champion relay) are the most for SJU since 2005 (19).
Sophomore
Mitchell Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) won SJU's third title of the meet in the 400-meter hurdles (55.14) and freshman
Max Martin (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) followed in third to earn his second All-MIAC honor (top three individually, champion relay) of the two-day event. The 2016 MIAC Indoor champion in the 55-meter hurdles, Martin took second in the 110-meter hurdles and Peck finished sixth (15.94) earlier in the day.
Freshman
Drew Schoenbauer (New Prague, Minn.) led four Johnnies in the 100-meter dash final with a second-place finish (10.93) and All-MIAC honor. Juniors
Evan Clark (Phoenix, Ariz./Apollo) and
Ryan Kuester (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) crossed the finish line in fifth (11.05) and sixth (11.08), respectively, while freshman
Anthony Clarke (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) claimed seventh (11.28).
Schoenbauer also finished second in the 200-meter dash (21.99), 0.23 of a second from the title.
Junior
Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) earned his second All-MIAC honor of the meet with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:34.70). Sophomore
Matthew Burgstahler (Sandpoint, Idaho) followed Bugler, who was a member of SJU's champion 4x800-meter relay team Friday night, in seventh (9:43.17).
Junior
Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) collected an All-MIAC honor with a third-place finish in the hammer throw (50.53 meters), while freshman
Kai Barber (Minneapolis, Minn./Totino-Grace) claimed third in the discus (45.81 meters).
The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay (Kuester, Clarke, Clark, Schoenbauer) finished second with a time of 42.29 seconds, 0.06 of a second from the title.
Senior
Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) claimed fourth in the 1,500 meters (4:09.74), 0:00.97 from third place and All-MIAC distinction.
SJU travels to compete at the Wisconsin-La Crosse "Last-Chance" Qualifier this Thursday, May 19.
