NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's track and field finished third out of 11 teams at the 2016 MIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 5, at Carleton.

St. Thomas won its 32nd consecutive MIAC indoor title with 166 points, followed by nationally-ranked St. Olaf (105), SJU (90), Hamline (88) and the host Knights (81).

The third-place finish is the program's best since it claimed second in 2007 and 2008, and the 10 All-MIAC honors (top three individually, champion relay) are the most since 2007 (10).

Junior Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) earned All-MIAC honors with a second-place finish (13.41 meters) in the triple jump, a half inch from Hamline's Bakari Jackson (13.42 meters). Sophomore Colton Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./South Ridge) followed in fifth (13.30 meters), 2.25 inches from third place.

Freshman Drew Schoenbauer (New Prague, Minn.) earned All-MIAC distinction with a second-place finish (22.58), and personal-record time, in the 200-meter dash, 0.27 behind Augsburg's Manni Egbujor and 0.04 ahead of third. Junior Ryan Kuester (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) took fifth with a season-best time of 22.76, 0.14 behind third place.

Junior Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) shaved four minutes off his previous best time to earn All-MIAC honors, his second of the meet, with a third-place finish (8:35.03) in the 3,000 meters.

Freshman Kai Barber (Minneapolis, Minn./Totino-Grace) finished seventh in the shot put (15.05 meters) and junior Tony Yost (Eden Prairie, Minn.) followed in ninth (14.43 meters). Both marks were season bests.

The Johnnies' 800-meter relay team finished third (1:30.68) in a thrilling race in which the top three teams were separated by 0:00.31. St. Thomas won in 1:30.37 and Augsburg took second in 1:30.44.
