ResultsCOLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's track and field won its five-team indoor invitational on Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Donald McNeely Spectrum.
The Johnnies won seven events to finish with 170 points, followed by Hamline (139), Gustavus Adolphus (99), Concordia-Moorhead (76) and Minnesota-Morris (32).
Senior
Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) won the 800 meters, his first run in the event this season, with a time of 1:55.92. The time is good for fourth in the MIAC.
Last night (Feb. 19), Feichtinger won the mile run at Division I Minnesota's Snowshoe Open with a time of 4:11, which is the seventh-fastest time in NCAA Division III this year.
Freshman
Max Martin (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68 seconds, which tied the school record set by Nick Thies in 2014. The time is the second-fastest in the MIAC this season.
Junior
Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) shaved nearly 25 seconds off his previous best time to win the 3,000 meters (8:39.19) and classmate
Sam Friesen (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) led all collegiate runners in the 5,000 meters (16:17.57).
Sophomore
Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) won the long jump (6.46 meters) and sophomore
Jordan Theisen (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo) won the high jump with a height of 1.72 meters.
Freshman
Kai Barber (Minneapolis, Minn./Totino-Grace) won the shot put with a toss of 14.50 meters.
Junior
Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) virtually tied with Hamline's Joe Matheson in the pole vault with a MIAC-leading height of 4.62 meters.
The Johnnies travel to compete at the St. Olaf Qualifier, the final tune-up before the 2016 MIAC Indoor Championships March 3-5, on Friday, Feb. 26. The meet is scheduled for 4 p.m. at STO's Tostrud Center in Northfield.
