ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's hockey settled for a 2-2 tie and a four-point weekend against Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, Dec. 3, in St. Peter.

The Gusties won the three-round shootout, 1-0, Saturday night to earn the additional point in the conference standings.

Sophomore forward Evan Okeley (Carmel, Ind.) gave SJU (6-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAC) a 2-1 lead 4:45 into the third period with a rebound goal, his fifth tally of the season. Sophomore defenseman Joey Lindberg (Woodbury, Minn.) added the lone assist, his second of the game.

Drew Aspinwall tied the game at 2-2 for GAC (1-7-2, 0-5-1 MIAC) with 3:58 left in the third period.

Van Sullivan gave the home team an early 1-0 lead 4:45 into the game, but sophomore defenseman Sean Lang (Apple Valley, Minn.) tied it at 1-1 with his 10th career goal, and third of the season, at the 13:13 mark of the first period. Lindberg and junior forward Huba Sekesi (Germering, Germany) were credited with the assists.

Freshman goaltender Andrew Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.) made 25 saves in the tie for SJU, which was out-shot 27-23 in the game. The visitors, however, posted a 13-10 edge in shots-on-goal after the second period. 

The Johnnies wrap up the 2016 portion of their schedule with a 7 p.m. non-conference game at St. Scholastica next Saturday, Dec. 10, in Duluth.
