SUPERIOR, Wis. – Saint John's basketball shot 63 percent (17-for-27) from the field in the second half in an 89-79 season-opening win at Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Sophomore guard
David Stokman (Maple Lake, Minn.) nearly tripled his previous career high (12) with 31 points to lead SJU. He ended the night 10 of 14 from the field, including a 4-for-5 showing from behind the arc, and led all players with eight rebounds.
Junior post
Tyler Weiss (Shakopee, Minn.) followed Stokman with a career high of his own, 22 points, in only 25 minutes of play. He shot 9-for-11 from the floor and snagged six rebounds.
The Johnnies coupled the hot shooting in the second half to build on its three-point (34-31) halftime lead. SJU entered the bonus with 11:43 to play and went 21-for-27 at the charity stripe in the second half alone (23-for-32 in the game).

Jubie Alade (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) scored 10 points in his collegiate debut, while sophomore post
Ben Hartmann (Albany, Minn.) added seven points and seven rebounds off the bench. Junior guard
Garrett Goetz (Rosemount, Minn.) tallied six points and dished out six assists in his second career start at the point.
Despite a 4-for-14 showing from three-point range, SJU finished at 52.5 percent (31-for-59) from the field and out-rebounded the Yellowjackets, 42-32.
The Johnnies return home to host Minnesota-Morris for a 4 p.m. game this Saturday, Nov. 19, in Sexton Arena. The game was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. but was bumped an hour to accommodate SJU's NCAA Division III playoff football game at noon in Collegeville.
