Andrew Commers (Edina, Minn.) gave SJU (8-9-4, 6-4-2 MIAC) the extra point in the MIAC standings and a weekend split with a 4-3 shootout win.
A graduate of St. Thomas Academy, Commers gave SJU a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal, his fourth tally of the season, with 8:28 left in the second period.
Willie Faust tied the game for UST (9-6-4, 6-2-2 MIAC) on a tip in front with 11:43 remaining in the game and Ben Vikich put the home team ahead with 5:53 left.

Kevin Becker (Roseville, Minn.) tied the game at 2-2 with 3:19 left, his fifth goal of the season, with assists going to sophomore forward

Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) tied a season high with 40 saves on the night as SJU was out-shot 42-24 in the tie.
SJU held UST's power play, which entered the weekend ranked fourth in the country (28.6 percent, 16-for-56), to a combined 0-for-5 (0-for-4 on Saturday) in the two games.
The Johnnies return to action with two games at Saint Mary's Feb. 12-13 in Winona.
