Johnnies Win Six Events at Meet of Saints

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's track and field posted 14 top-three finishes, including six wins, at the annual Meet of Saints, hosted by St. Thomas, on Saturday, May 2, in St. Paul.

The meet, which featured SJU, the host Tommies and St. Olaf, was not scored.

Sophomore Ryan Kuester (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds, which is the third-fastest time in the MIAC this spring.

Senior Yasin Williams (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) followed with a win of his own in the 200-meter dash (22.71).

Senior Jake Lammi (Marine on St. Croix, Minn./Stillwater Area) claimed second in the 400 meters (49.58) and sophomore Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) finished second in the hammer throw (48.18 meters).

Junior Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) shaved two seconds off his season-best time in the 1,500 meters (3:50.66) to take second, 0:00.21 from first.

Sophomores Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Joe Koll (Winona, Minn./Cotter) took first (13.20 meters) and second (12.94 meters), respectively, in the triple jump. Koll also finished second in the long jump (6.38 meters).

Junior Matt Devery (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and sophomore Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) went 1 (4.25 meters)-2 (4.10 meters) in the pole vault.

Senior Kyle Rossow (St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) claimed third in the 800 meters (1:55.85) and junior Jake Burr (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) placed third in the 5,000 meters (16:31.72).

SJU won both relays, the 4x100-meter (42.74; Jordan Tradewell, Williams, Aaron Piecukonis, Kuester) and 4x400-meter (3:37.03; Will Zimmerman, Zach Grieves, Rossow, Feichtinger).

The Johnnies return to St. Paul for the 2015 MIAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Macalester, this Friday and Saturday, May 8-9.
