LA CROSSE, Wis. – Saint John's junior
Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) broke the 32-year old school record in the 1,500 meters at the Wisconsin-La Crosse "Last Chance" Qualifier on Friday, May 15.
Feichtinger broke the record, set by Mike McGowan '83 at the 1983 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship (3:50.06), with a time of 3:48.86 to take fourth among Division III participants. As of this morning, the time is good for 14th in Division III.
The top 20 times advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships May 21-23 in Canton, N.Y. The field is expected to be announced by 8 a.m. Sunday, May 17.
Feichtinger also finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.98, but did not improve his season-best time of 1:52.26 set at the St. Thomas Twilight April 16. That time is good for 31st in the country. Senior
Kyle Rossow (St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) followed in ninth (1:56.87).
Sophomores
Joe Koll (Winona, Minn./Cotter) and
Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) placed fifth (6.50 meters) and sixth (6.15 meters) in the long jump, respectively, and followed suit in seventh (12.96 meters) and eighth (12.87 meters) in the triple jump.
