Johnnies Win Five Events, Drop Dual to St. Thomas

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's swimming and diving won five events but lost, 189-107, to St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Warner Palaestra Pool in Collegeville.

Senior Paul Knaak (Forest Lake, Minn./Stillwater Area) won a pair of events, the 50- (21.91) and 100-yard (48.39) freestyles.

Junior Jose Alvarez (North Bay Village, Fla./Belen Jesuit) also won two events, the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.53) and 200-yard individual medley (1:59.50). He also placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.02).

Senior Matthew McCormack (Rosemount, Minn.) won the 100-yard backstroke (55.70).

Senior Alex Ingulsrud (Fargo, N.D./Davies) touched the wall second in the 100-yard backstroke (55.83) and junior Andrew Urness (Rosemount, Minn.) did the same in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.97).

Junior Justin Wollin (Eagan, Minn.) finished second in both the 1- (219.70) and 3-meter (185.65) dives.

The Johnnies return to action at the two-day Jean Freeman Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 4-5, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
