Sophomore
Jose Alvarez (North Bay Village, Fla./Belen Jesuit) won the 100-yard backstroke (53.04) and the 400-yard individual medley, by 14 seconds, with a time of 4:20.34.
Sophomore
Kenny Bergman (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) won the 100-yard freestyle (48.10) and took second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.57), while junior
Paul Knaak (Forest Lake, Minn./Stillwater Area) touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.55).
Sophomore
Justin Wollin (Eagan, Minn.) won the 1-meter dive (224.00) and freshman
Josh Tomporowski (St. Cloud, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) took first in the 3-meter event (224.35).
The Johnnies won both relays, the 200-yard freestyle (1:26.30; Knaak,
Connor Magee,
Andrew Urness, Bergman) and 200-yard medley (1:37.79; Alvarez, Duxbury,
Sam Konsor, Knaak).
Junior
Nolan Bauer (Helena, Mont.) claimed second in both the 500- (5:14.63) and 1,000-yard freestyles (10:55.33), and senior
Joe Duxbury (Long Lake, Minn./Orono) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (54.58).
SJU returns to the Twin Cities for St. Thomas' MIAC Invitational (not to be confused with the MIAC Championships) on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
