SJU (7-5, 5-2 MIAC) shot 53.8 percent (14-for-26) from the field but surrendered 12 points on seven turnovers to take a 38-31 lead into halftime. The Cardinals (2-9, 1-7 MIAC) hit three-pointers on the first two possessions of the second half to cut their deficit to four, 41-37, before the Johnnies embarked on the 26-7 scoring run to gain a 67-44 lead with 11:24 remaining.

Mitchell Kuck (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) led SJU with 21 points and classmate
Alex Schmitt (Waconia, Minn.) added 15 points and six assists. The two combined to go 7-for-15 from three-point range in the game.

Blake Maslonkowski (St. Joseph, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo) collected six points and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
Will Swiggum led all scorers with 22 points on a 7-for-13 night from the floor (4-for-6 from three-point land) for SMU, which never led in the contest.
SJU out-rebounded the visitors 36-27 in the game, including a 15-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Johnnies travel to face Gustavus Adolphus (8-4, 4-3 MIAC) for a 3 p.m. game this Saturday, Jan. 17, in St. Peter.
