Early Deficit Spells Defeat for SJU, 2-1

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's allowed two goals in the first 22 minutes of the match in a 2-1 loss at St. Olaf on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Kevin Skrip put the home team in front in the 16th minute (15:51) and Amadou Gueye added another less than six minutes later (21:12) for the Oles (5-1, 2-0 MIAC).

Senior Ian Scudder (Sherwood, Ore.) cut the deficit in half for SJU (4-4, 1-1 MIAC) with his second goal of the season in the 31st minute (30:06). Scudder utilized a great throw-in from junior Cole Howard (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview), and unleashed a header to the back of the net.

Junior Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) made four saves in the loss. 

STO registered a slim edge in shots, 9-8 (6-5 on goal) and corner kicks were even at two apiece.

The Johnnies return to the road with a trip to Gustavus Adolphus next Saturday, Sept. 27. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Peter.
