Johnnies Win Five Events, Fall at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Saint John's swimming and diving team recorded 20 top-three finishes, including five wins, in 13 events but fell to Carleton by a 145-135 score on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Northfield.

Freshman Jose Alvarez (North Bay Village, Fla./Belen Jesuit) won both the 100- (52.59) and 200-yard butterfly (2:00.02) events, while junior Joe Duxbury (Long Lake, Minn./Orono) took first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.75). Sophomore Braden McCormack (Rosemount, Minn.) took first-place honors in the 100-yard backstroke (55.25) and the Johnnies' 200-medley relay (Alvarez, Duxbury, Paul Knaak, B. McCormack) touched the wall first in 1:38.76.

The Johnnies travel to face Division II St. Cloud State for a 6 p.m. dual meet on Friday, Jan. 17, at the Halenbeck Pool in St. Cloud.
