DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras (Iowa), ranked fifth nationally, scored two early goals en route to a 5-0 win over Saint John's on Sunday, Sept. 15, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Tom Fluegel gave the Duhawks (6-0-2 overall) a 1-0 lead, with what proved to be the game-winner, 2:57 into the match. Mike Pizzello made it 2-0 at the 17:30 mark and Loras added three more goals in the second half.

LC out-shot the Johnnies (2-3-1 overall) 24-8 overall and 12-5 on goal.

Sophomore Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) made five saves in the first 55:54 of the match, while senior Ryan Brutger (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) made two stops in the final 34:06.

Twelve of the 19 Johnnies that played in the match were either freshmen or sophomores.

Loras reached the NCAA Division III Final Four in 2012, falling to eventual national champion Messiah (Pa.) 1-0 in overtime. The Duhawks also advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2011.

SJU opens MIAC play at Hamline with a 4 p.m. match on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in St. Paul.
