Concordia Visits Collegeville Saturday

The Saint John's track & field team hosts Concordia-Moorhead for a dual meet at noon Saturday, March 16, in the Donald McNeely Spectrum in Collegeville.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saturday's dual meet was originally schedule to be the Johnnies' outdoor opener, but Mother Nature moved the event inside. Saint John's returns to action after finishing fifth out of 11 teams, 1.5 points from fourth, at the 2013 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 2. Three Johnnies collected a total of four All-MIAC (top three) honors. Senior Kevin Horton (Eagan, Minn.) claimed second in the 200-meter dash (22.75) and finished third in the 400-meter dash (49.99). He was only 0.05 of a second from the conference title in both events. Senior Brady O'Brien (Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels) earned his first All-MIAC honor with a second-place finish in the triple jump (13.65 meters), while junior Willie Versen (Hopkins, Minn.) registered his first All-MIAC distinction with a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters (8:40.90). The Johnnies' distance medley relay (Steven Donahue, Taylor Nauman, Kyle Rossow, Versen) took third with a time of 10:26.73, only 0:00.44 behind second-place Hamline.
