MOORHEAD, Minn. – Saint John's completed a two-game sweep at Concordia-Moorhead with a 3-1 win on Saturday, Jan. 19, in Moorhead.

Like Friday night's contest, Concordia (8-10-1, 5-5-0 MIAC) took an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the opening period.

Senior Tobias Linbro (Nykvarn, Sweden) tied the game at 1-1 for SJU (8-6-3, 3-3-2 MIAC) with his fourth goal of the season 8:45 into the second period. Senior Michael Palmiscno (East Grand Forks, Minn.) and junior Axel Ramsgard (Gothenburg, Sweden) collected the assists.

Sophomore Nick Senta (Savage, Minn.) tallied what proved to be the game-winner, on the power play, at the 10:27 mark of the third period. Junior Justin Hochsprung (Alexandria, Minn.) and sophomore John Haeg (Lakeville, Minn.) were credited with the assists.

Sophomore Phil Johnson (Duluth, Minn.) sealed the victory for SJU with an empty-net goal, his sixth tally of the season, with assists going to Linbro and Palmiscno.

Freshman Saxton Soley (Elk Mound, Wis.) made 22 saves to improve to 7-3 on the season and a MIAC-leading .700 winning percentage.

SJU out-shot the Cobbers 31-23 and converted one of its five power-play opportunities. The penalty kill thwarted both CC chances and is now a perfect 10-for-10 over the last five games.

The Johnnies have now either defeated or tied the Cobbers in 26 of the last 30 meetings (24-4-2 record), including a 20-3-2 record in the last 25 games since the 2002-03 season and a 7-2-2 record under the direction of head coach Doug Schueller. SJU is 15-4-3 in its last 22 games in Moorhead.

SJU travels to face Hamline for a 7:15 p.m. game Friday, Jan. 25, at the Vadnais Sports Center in Vadnais Heights. The Johnnies then return home to host the Pipers for a 7 p.m. game Saturday, Jan. 26, at the National Hockey and Events Center in St. Cloud.
