Freshmen Lead Johnnies to Dual Win Over Carleton

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's won seven events in a 148-142 dual win over Carleton Jan. 12 in Collegeville. All six individual wins were claimed by SJU freshmen.

Freshman Matt McCormack (Rosemount, Minn.) bested his twin brother, Braden McCormack, by 0.05 seconds to go 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke. Braden later won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.37).

Freshman Preston Marsh (Petersburg, Alaska) won the 100- (1:02.01) and 200-yard breaststrokes (2:15.49), as well as the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.26).

Freshmen Jack Getty (Excelsior, Minn./Chanhassen) and Ben Studer (Delano, Minn.) went 1-2 in the 1-meter dive.

Sophomore Logan Arnold (Moorhead, Minn.) followed Carleton's Erik Klontz to claim second in both the 50- (21.93) and 100-yard freestyles (48.23).

The Johnnies' 200-yard medley (Arnold, Joe Duxbury, Marsh, B. McCormack) won the event with a time of 1:37.35.

SJU travels to St. Paul for the Meet of Saints next Saturday, Jan. 19. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m. at St. Thomas.
