Johnnies Win 14 Events in Dual Victory Over Concordia

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's won 14 events en route to a 144-49 win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, April 14, in Collegeville.

Senior Wade Powers (Hawick, Minn./New London-Spicer) won the discus (46.90 meters) and weight throw (47.97 meters), while junior Joe Donner (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) edged freshman Ben Kuhr (Burnsville, Minn./Lakeville South) by 0.01 meters to claim the shot put (13.41 meters).

Freshman Chase Myhran (Orono, Minn.) took first in the long jump (6.53 meters) and junior Brian Peterson (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) won the triple jump with a leap of 12.92 meters.

Sophomore Patrick Hayden (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) won the pole vault with a height of 4.15 meters and classmate Nate Engel (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:00.57).

Seniors Jordan Fladland (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Dustin Franta (La Crescent, Minn.) went 1-2 in the 1,500 meters, while fellow senior Logan Schwinghammer (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) won the 110-meter hurdles (15.62). Junior Collin Hager (Miltona, Minn./Parkers Prairie) won the 800 meters (1:55.86) by two seconds over senior Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South). Moynihan finished fourth out of 28 runners in the 1,500 meters (4:02.01) at last night's Tomcat Twilight at St. Thomas.

Junior Kevin Horton (Eagan, Minn.) finished 0.37 ahead of sophomore Patrick Means (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) to claim the 200-meter dash (22.44). Senior Aaron Koenig (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) claimed the 400 meters (50.95) and sophomore Jack Elsnes (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park) won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33.

The Johnnies' 4x400-meter relay team (Hager, Schwinghammer, Kevin Horton, Tyler Nauman) won the event with a time of 3:22.28.

Junior Andrew Million (Lino Lakes, Minn./Totino-Grace) enters Sunday's final day of the SJU Decathlon in eighth place out of 12 participants with 3,000 points. He finished third in the 400 meters (51.17) and fifth in the long jump (6.23 meters). Junior Derek Rausch (White Bear Lake, Minn.) is close behind in ninth (2,845 points) and freshman Nick Thies (Green Isle, Minn./Sibley East) is 11th (2,802 points).

SJU travels to compete at the Carleton Relays next Saturday, April 21. The meet is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Laird Stadium in Northfield.
