SJU Track & Field Hosts Two Competitions This Weekend

The SJU track and field team hosts Concordia-Moorhead for a dual meet, beginning at 11 a.m. this Saturday, April 14, in Clemens Stadium. The Johnnies then host their two-day SJU Decathlon later in the afternoon Saturday and into Sunday, April 15.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's posted seven top-five finishes at the Hamline Invitational last Friday in St. Paul. Team scores were not calculated. Senior Chris Phillips (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.14), while classmate Logan Schwinghammer (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) took third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.63) and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (57.16). Senior Wade Powers (Hawick, Minn./New London-Spicer) finished fourth but led all Division III participants in the discus with a throw of 47.52 meters. Freshman Chase Myhran (Orono, Minn.) claimed fourth in the long jump (6.74 meters) and junior Nick Tinucci (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) took fifth in the triple jump (12.40 meters). The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay team finished second with a time of 43.42.

NCAA PERFOMANCE LISTS: Powers is currently 22nd in all of NCAA Division III in the discus throw with a distance of 47.83 meters. Junior Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South) is 30th in the 5,000 meters (14:59.65) and Myhran is 32nd in the long jump (6.84 meters).

WHO WILL BE HERE: The SJU decathletes will be joined Saturday and Sunday by student-athletes from MSU-Mankato and St. Thomas.
