SJU Ends Trip With Loss to Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. – Puget Sound (Wash.) made the most of its opportunities in a 3-1 win over Saint John's on Sunday, Oct. 7, in Tacoma, Wash.

Carson Swope gave the Loggers (8-2-3, 4-1-2 NWC) a 1-0 lead 10:45 into the match and Sam Zisette made it 2-0 at the 65:19 mark.

Sophomore David Wee (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) cut the deficit to 2-1 with his team-leading fifth goal of the season, unassisted, 6:39 later.

Andrew White cushioned UPS' lead with 2:45 left.

Freshman Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) made four saves in the loss for SJU (5-5-2, 2-2-0 MIAC).

SJU out-shot Puget Sound 12-9, though the Loggers held a 7-4 advantage on goal. Corner kicks were 7-6 in favor of UPS and the Johnnies were called for offsides four times.

The Loggers received votes in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national poll released Oct. 2 and were listed fourth in the West Region rankings.

The Johnnies return to conference action this Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Bethel. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Arden Hills.
