A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: The Johnnies hoped to end their one-goal, four-match losing streak at No. 23 (D3kicks.com) Augsburg this past Tuesday, but left Minneapolis with a 3-0 loss. Sophomore Ryan Brutger (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) made seven saves in net for SJU. Junior Tobias Linbro (Nykvarn, Sweden/Igelstavikens Gymnasium), sophomore Matt Carson (Waconia, Minn.) and freshman Jake Herr (Centerville, Minn./Totino-Grace) each had a shot on goal during the match. Sophomore Michael Coborn still leads the MIAC in points (21), goals (7) and assists (7).
A LOOK AT THE OLES: St. Olaf, which is ranked No. 18 in the latest D3kicks.com poll, has cooled off a bit since its hot 6-0 start, posting a 2-1-1 record. The Oles recently tied with Hamline (2-5-2, 0-2-2 MIAC) by a 2-2 score in St. Paul. Sophomore David Rosenthal leads St. Olaf with 17 points (7g/3a), while sophomore Harry Ullmann boasts a 0.48 GAA and a .894 save percentage in all 930:41 this season.
LAST YEAR: SJU and STO battled to a 1-1 tie last fall in Northfield. The match started with a bang for SJU when Coborn found A.J. Sollom '11 for a goal just 1:41 into the match. From then on it was a defensive struggle until Saint John's conceded an own-goal with just under a minute left in regulation to tie the game at 1-1.
SERIES HISTORY: Saint John's holds a 21-9-2 series lead since 1981. The Johnnies are 11-5 at home, though the Oles have won each of the past two meetings in Collegeville (4-1 and 2-1).
