COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Gustavus Adolphus' Zack Brown scored the game-winner 2:55 into the second overtime to defeat Saint John's 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Collegeville.

Brown's first goal of the match gave the Gusties (8-1, 2-1 MIAC), ranked 20th nationally, a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute.

Sophomore Simon Plata (Annandale, Minn./Saint John's Prep) tied the match at 1-1 with his first collegiate goal three minutes later. Sophomore Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) and freshman Josh Whitaker (Milwaukie, Ore.) assisted on the scoring play for SJU (4-4, 0-3 MIAC).

Sophomore Ryan Brutger (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) made nine saves in the loss.

GAC held a 21-19 edge in total shots (11-8 on goal), though SJU tallied a 9-6 advantage on corner kicks.

The Johnnies travel to face Augsburg this Tuesday, Sept. 27. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis.
