ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's opened the MIAC portion of its 2011 schedule with a tough 1-0 loss at defending MIAC regular-season champion Macalester on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Taylor Rasmussen's third goal of the season, 44 seconds into the second half, proved to be the game-winner for the Scots (2-3, 1-0 MIAC).
Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Brutger (St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo) made four saves in the loss for SJU (4-2, 0-1 MIAC).
The Johnnies continue their rugged start to the MIAC schedule by traveling to Carleton this Saturday, Sept. 17. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bell Field in Northfield. Including tonight's match at Macalester, SJU is scheduled to play four of last year's top five MIAC teams to open the conference schedule, three of which are on the road.
