ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's won 10 of 18 events but fell to Gustavus Adolphus in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The final tally was a 1,549-1,080 in favor of the Gusties.
Senior Wes Schlichting (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) won both the 1- (262.20) and 3-meter (285.10) dives, while classmate Josh Seaburg (Moorhead, Minn.) finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.45), 400-yard individual medley (4:25.92) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:16.07).
Senior Jesse Otis (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.21) and claimed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.70).
Senior Ty Nimens (Crookston, Minn.) and sophomore Connor Triggs (Edina, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) went 1-2 in the 100-yard freestyle. Nimens also claimed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.55. Freshman Logan Arnold (Moorhead, Minn.) took first in the 100-yard backstroke (56.33).
The Johnnies won the 200- (1:29.10) and 400-yard (3:15.82) freestyle relays.
SJU returns to action in two weeks at the Wisconsin-River Falls Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Dec. 2-3, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
