SJU Basketball Travels to Augsburg Tonight

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's has won three of its last four games, but dropped its most recent contest to Concordia-Moorhead (63-60) on Feb. 6.  The Johnnies were just 3-12 from three-point range. Junior Todd Herman (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) led all scorers with a career-high 20 points, while junior Aaron Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) followed with 16 points and nine rebounds. SJU entered the contest with a MIAC-best .408 shooting percentage from three-point range but was just 3 of 12. The Johnnies have now shot a combined 35.1 percent (60-171) from the field in their last three games in Moorhead, all of which have resulted in losses.

A LOOK AT THE AUGGIES: Augsburg escaped an upset bid from Macalester with a 71-68 home win on Feb. 6. Jon Cassens led the Auggies with 18 points, going from 7-11 from the floor, and eight assists. David Olson had a total of 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting. The Auggies are currently tied with SJU for fourth in the MIAC. The Johnnies' three remaining games following tonight's contest, however, are against teams currently ahead of them in the standings (St. Thomas, Hamline, Gustavus).

THE LAST MEETING: Sophomore Aaron Barmore (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) recorded a career high 20 points to lead the Johnnies to a 77-62 win over the Auggies on Jan. 6 in Collegeville. Sophomore Andy Burns (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) added 16 points while Burtzel and junior Chris Schwartz (Sioux Falls, S.D./ Lincoln) added 11 points apiece.  Burtzel also added eight rebounds and seven assists. Marcus Brumm led the Auggies with 22 points. Augsburg started the game off with the first five points before the Johnnies went on a 13-0 run to take the lead and never looked back. – Box Score
