COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University freshman defender Joe Laue's (St. Louis Park, Minn./Holy Angels) second career goal in as many games gave SJU a 1-0 win over Hamline on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Collegeville.
A free kick from freshman midfielder Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) sent the ball to the far post, where Laue knocked it to the far corner on a header 11:39 into the match.
Senior Matt Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made seven saves in net to earn his third shutout of the season and improve to 2-2-2.
Since 1981, SJU is now 27-3-2 against the Pipers, including a 14-1-1 record in Collegeville. SJU has now outscored Hamline 111-13 during the 32-match span. Of the 27 victories, 22 were shutouts.
The Johnnies (3-4-3, 2-2-2 MIAC) travel to face Wisconsin-Superior for a 2 p.m. match on Sunday, Oct. 10.
