SJU Drops Close Decision at St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Saint John's University swimming and diving team dropped a close dual at St. Cloud State, 164.5-117.5, on Saturday, Jan. 23.

SJU claimed wins in six events, including the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Junior Michael Williams (Maple Grove, Minn.) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.40, while sophomore Josh Seaburg (Moorhead, Minn.) claimed first in both the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.81) and 200-yard individual medley (2:06.96)

Junior Marcus Rien (Richmond, Minn./Rocori) won the 1-meter dive (234.25), while sophomore Wes Schlichting (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) took second. The two flip-flopped the honors in the 3-meter dive.

The Johnnies return to action at the Macalester Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.
