The Johnnies return to the pool this Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Cloud State. The dual meet is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Halenbeck Pool in St. Cloud.
A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: The Saint John's swimming and diving team defeated Carleton 182-106 on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Northfield. The Johnnies won 13 of the 16 events, including the 400-yard freestyle (3:17.44) and 400-yard medley relays (3:39.45). Sophomore Jimmy Foley (Moorhead, Minn.) won the 500- (5:05.73) and 1,650-yard freestyles (18:05.60), while fellow sophomore Ty Nimens (Crookston, Minn.) claimed wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.98) and 200-yard individual medley (2:01.13). Junior Andy Happe (Urbandale, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) finished first in both the 100- (55.48) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.55), and sophomore Jesse Otis (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) won the 100- (1:02.03) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.19). Sophomore Josh Seaburg (Moorhead, Minn.) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.89), while junior Michael Williams (Maple Grove, Minn.) took the 100-yard freestyle (49.22). Sophomore Wes Schlichting (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) won the 1-meter dive (219.70) and finished second in the 3-meter dive (244.00).
A LOOK AT THE HUSKIES: The St. Cloud State men's swimming and diving squad swept the St. Olaf Double Dual Invite over St. Olaf and St. Thomas on Jan. 16 in Northfield. The Husky men edged the host team St. Olaf, 156-142, and topped St. Thomas, 169-131. Freshman diver Luke Weber led with a first-place finish on the 1-meter board with 299.64 points in the Event A and 177.00 points in the Event B.
LAST YEAR'S MEETING: Saint John's earned three wins in a dual meet versus St. Cloud. Foley won both the 500- (5:03.98) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:37.16) events, while Nimens won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.98.
