ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's skated to a 3-3 tie at No. 10 Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Jan. 22, in St. Peter.

Senior Chris Murray (Chanhassen, Minn.) gave SJU (5-8-3, 1-5-1 MIAC) an early 1-0 lead 7:37 into the game. Seniors Dylan Decker (Park City, Utah) and Jake Koehler (Ramsey, Minn.) assisted on the scoring play.

David Martinson tied the game with his first of two goals for Gustavus (12-4-2, 6-1-2 MIAC) on the power play 6:03 into the second frame. Ross Ring-Jarvi gave GAC a 2-1 lead 3:54 later.

Murray tied the game at 2-2 with his third goal of the season at the 14:36 mark of the second period. Decker and junior Pat McClure (Maple Plain, Minn.) were credited with assists.

Junior Alex Lindeberg (Forest Lake, Minn.) gave the Johnnies their second lead of the game on the power play 8:36 into the third period, with assists going to senior Gabriel Harren (Warroad, Minn.) and Joe Harren (Warroad, Minn.).

Martinson tied the game with an unassisted goal with 7:53 left in regulation.

Senior Stu Van Ess (Kewaskum, Wis.) made 33 saves in his first game in net since Dec. 5.

The Johnnies and Gusties will play again at 10 a.m. this Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The game is part of the Minnesota Wild Skills Competition. Advanced tickets may be purchased for $10 at all Ticketmaster locations or for $15 at the Xcel Energy Center Box Office on Jan. 24.
