COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – A goal from Saint John's University junior midfielder Colin Hall (Maple Grove, Minn.) at 75:32 of the second half proved to be the game winner as the Johnnies defeated Minnesota-Morris 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 6, in Collegeville. The match was the season opener for SJU.

Junior midfielder Kevin Saunders (Hastings, Minn.) stole the ball from a Cougar defender in the offensive zone and fed it to Hall, who found the back of the net from 15 feet out.

Senior goalkeeper Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) made seven saves to record his sixth career shutout.

The Johnnies played 20 student-athletes in what proved to be a warm, sun-drenched season opener.

SJU (1-0, 0-0 MIAC) travels to play Wartburg this Friday, Sept. 11. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Waverly, Iowa.
