The Saint John's soccer team is set to play two matches this weekend. SJU (2-3, 0-2 MIAC) hosts Gustavus Adolphus (4-1-2, 2-0 MIAC) this Saturday, Sept. 26. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Durenberger Field in Collegeville. The Johnnies then travel to face the University of Mary (5-6-0) for a 3 p.m. match on Sunday, Sept. 27, in Bismarck, N.D.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: The Johnnies dropped a 2-1 decision to St. Olaf last Saturday, Sept. 19. The Johnnies' lone goal came late in the second half from junior defender Andrew Lilly (Maple Grove, Minn.) on assists from seniors Eric Bell (Little Falls, Minn.) and Jake Archbold (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata). The goal was the first of Lilly's collegiate career. Senior goalkeeper Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) recorded 11 saves in the loss.
A LOOK AT THE GUSTIES: Gustavus is currently ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III North Region poll and is undefeated in MIAC play. The Gusties defeated Carleton 2-1 on Sept. 16 and Concordia-Moorhead 3-2 on Sept. 20. Trailing 2-1 against the Cobbers, sophomore midfielder Mark Adams scored two second-half goals for the win. Senior forward Bret VanderStreek scored both goals in the Gusties' victory over Carleton and the opening goal in the win against the Cobbers. VanderStreek was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week for his performance in the two matches. Junior goalkeeper Luke Strom has 23 saves on the year with two shutouts.
THE LAST MEETING: Gustavus defeated the Johnnies 3-0 on Sept. 20 of last year in St. Peter. Mark Adams and Bret VanderStreek each scored a goal for the Gusties, while Luke Strom got the win in net with two saves. - Box Score
A LOOK AT THE MARAUDERS: The Marauders are currently 5-6-1 overall, coming off a 1-0 win against Concordia-Moorhead. Nikola Nikolic scored his eighth goal of the season in the win and has now scored in each of the past three games, and five out of the last six. Mary dropped a 2-1 decision to Seattle Pacific on Sept. 21. The Marauders led 1-0 with 83 seconds left, but were stunned with two goals by the Falcons in regulation.
THE LAST MEETING: SJU defeated the Marauders 6-0 on Aug. 30 of last year in Collegeville. Eleven Johnnies recorded a point, while they outshot the Marauders 24-10 overall and 16-2 on goal. Nelson was in net the first half, where he recorded his second win of the season. - Box Score
