CHANDLER, Ariz. – Wartburg (Iowa) scored runs in six of the first seven innings to defeat Saint John's 10-7 on Sun., March 1.

Sophomores Matt Butorac (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Aaron Traut (St. Cloud, Minn./Rocori) collected three hits apiece, while fellow sophomores Kyle Henkemeyer (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice) and Brian Skluzacek (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) each went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Skluzacek smoked a one-run triple to right center with two outs in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Johnnies' 13 previous hits in the game were all singles.

Wartburg's Matt Johnson led the Knights (2-3, 0-0 IIAC) with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate, including a solo homer in the third inning.

SJU junior Matt Johnson (Eagan, Minn.) allowed nine runs, six earned, in 4 1/3 innings of work for SJU. Senior Alex Wahl (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) and junior Andrew Aebly (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) combined to allow one run on five hits in the final 3 2/3 innings.

The Johnnies (0-3, 0-0 MIAC) return to action on Mon., March 2, against Concordia-Chicago. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. local time in Chandler, Ariz.
