ST. PAUL, Minn. – Hamline snapped Saint John's six-game winning streak with an 82-64 victory Saturday, Feb. 14 in St. Paul.
Sophomore wing Chris Schwartz (Sioux Falls, S.D./Lincoln) led the Johnnies (13-10, 11-7 MIAC) with 16 points as SJU shot just 38.8 percent from the floor in the contest. Sophomore post Aaron Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori), stricken with foul trouble, posted five points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes of play, ending his double-double streak at three games.
Eric Clute led the Pipers (9-14, 8-11 MIAC) with 26 points off the bench, including 20 in the second half alone. Tony Thrasher added 19 points, while Carl Hipp recorded 17 points and 15 rebounds as Hamline shot 59.2 percent from the field in the game.
SJU travels to face top-ranked St. Thomas this Wednesday, Feb. 18. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul.
