Hujdurovic-Led Second-Half Surge Lifts SJU to Victory

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Saint John's University junior Nermin Hujdurovic (Tuzla, Bosnia/Medical) posted his first career double-double with a game- and career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Johnnies defeated Wis.-Eau Claire 68-66 on Friday, Nov. 27, in Oshkosh, Wis. 

Hujdurovic (ner-minn, who-do-row-vitch) recorded 15 points and seven rebounds in the second half alone. His previous career highs were 11 points and four rebounds, which he posted in the season opener 12 days ago. 

Sophomore Andy Burns (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) followed with 12 points, including the game-winning layup with 4.4 seconds remaining. Sophomore Aaron Barmore (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) added 10 points, while junior Aaron Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) and sophomore Andrew Latzke (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) tallied eight points and nine boards apiece.

Geoff Probst led the Blugolds (3-1, 0-0 WIAC) with 20 points on the night.

UWEC led by as much as 15 with 16 minutes left before SJU went on a 39-22 run to end the contest. The Johnnies (2-2, 0-0 MIAC) shot 59.3 percent in the second half, a far cry from the .280 shooting percentage in the game's first 20 minutes. SJU out-rebounded the Blugolds 41-26 in the game.

The Johnnies take on Wis.-Oshkosh in a battle of 2-2 teams on Saturday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Oshkosh, Wis.
