A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's dropped a 3-0 decision at Macalester on Oct. 27. Macalester took a 1-0 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half and added two more goals with five minutes remaining in the game. Senior Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) recorded five saves in the loss.
UNCHARACTERISTIC LACK OF SCORING: The 3-0 loss at Macalester marked the first time in school history that SJU has been held scoreless in three consecutive matches, on two separate streaks, in the same season. The last time the Johnnies were held scoreless three consecutive matches, period, was 1999 (Oct. 12-23).
A LOOK AT THE COBBERS: Concordia is in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAC with a 5-3-1 record and a 10-6-1 record overall. The Cobbers tied St. Thomas 0-0 in their last match on Oct. 27 in St. Paul. Concordia has not been scored upon in its last seven games, a span of 668:39 scoreless minutes. Sophomore Riley McGlynn with 25 points (11g/3a) and the MIAC in goals (11), while junior Marco Riboli has 11 points (1g/9a) for the Cobbers. Senior Mads Schmidt is 10-6-1 with a 0.81 GAA and eight shutouts in net this fall.
THE LAST MEETING: The Johnnies defeated Concordia 2-0 on Nov. 1, 2008, in Collegeville. Tyler Kodet scored 31 minutes into the match before junior #A.J. Sollom# (Roberts, Wis./River Falls) padded the lead with a tally in the second half. Nelson made 13 saves in the shutout victory.
