Johnnies Suffer Overtime Loss at River Falls, 2-1

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Wis.-River Falls' Ben Beaudoin scored a power-play goal with 1:37 remaining in overtime to defeat Saint John's 2-1 Friday, Jan. 9 in River Falls, Wis.

Following two scoreless periods, SJU senior Brian Baker (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) gave the Johnnies a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 53 seconds into the third period. Senior Jake Hipp (Bismarck, N.D.) and freshman Jeff Lesmeister (Anoka, Minn.), assisted on the scoring play. Lesmeister made his SJU debut this evening after playing the first half of the season with Albert Lea of the NAHL.

The Falcons' Tyler Czuba tied the game with his 12th goal of the season 1:30 later. Wis.-River Falls (8-7-1, 2-4-0 NCHA) outshot the Johnnies 46-39 in the contest.

Senior Vince Wheeler (Clearwater, Minn.) made a career-high 44 saves in the loss for SJU (3-11-1, 0-5-1 MIAC).

The Johnnies return to action Friday, Jan. 16 as they play host to Augsburg for a 7 p.m. contest at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
