MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's shot just 29 percent (18-62) from the field, including 5-24 (.208) from three-point range, in a 68-51 loss at Augsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The Johnnies entered the game with a .458 shooting percentage and a .397 shooting percentage from behind the arc.
Sophomore wing Aaron Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) led SJU (6-5, 4-2 MIAC) with 13 points and seven rebounds, while freshman point guard Andy Burns (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) added 12 points.
Nate Alm led the Auggies (6-5, 4-2 MIAC) led all scorers with 15 points and recorded 20 rebounds. Augsburg outrebounded SJU 48-39 in the contest.
Unable to provide a spark, the SJU bench was just three of 18 from the field and 0-for-7 from behind the arc.
The Johnnies travel to face Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, Jan. 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead.
