Second-Half Surge Lifts Johnnies to 69-44 Win at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Impressive second-half shooting spurred Saint John's University to a 69-44 win over Macalester Wednesday, Dec. 10 in St. Paul. The Johnnies shot 62.5% (15-24) from the floor to fuel a 39-18 scoring advantage in the game's final 20 minutes.

Freshman point guard Andy Burns (Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) led the Johnnies (4-3, 3-0 MIAC) with 15 points, while sophomore wing Todd Herman (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) added 14. Burns also recorded seven assists and five steals in the game.

Sophomore wing Aaron Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds to post his second consecutive double-double (third of the season).

Kyle Hamblett led Macalester (0-8, 0-4 MIAC) with 13 points. The Scots shot just 26.2% (16-61) from the field, including a 2-for-21 performance from three-point range.

SJU returns to action this Sunday, Dec. 14 as it plays host to the University of Chicago. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Sexton Arena in Collegeville.
