COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University soccer team ended its 2008 season with a 2-0 win over Concordia-Moorhead Saturday, Nov. 1 in Collegeville. The Johnnies end the 2008 campaign with an 11-6-1 record overall and a 6-3-1 record in the MIAC.
Senior forward Tyler Kodet (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) ended his four-year career in fine fashion with his second goal of the season, and 22nd of his career, 31 minutes into the match to give SJU a 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder Cam Christensen (Bismarck, N.D./St. Mary's) assisted on the scoring play for the Johnnies. The tally was Kodet's 10th career game-winning goal.
Sophomore forward A.J. Sollom (Roberts, Wis./River Falls) increased the Johnnies' lead to 2-0 with a goal near the 67th minute on a pass from sophomore midfielder Clash Lo (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan).
Junior goalkeeper Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) made 13 saves to improve his record to 10-4-1 on the season. Senior keeper Heath Stoll (Apple Valley, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) recorded five minutes of scoreless relief in net.
With the win, SJU head coach Pat Haws ended his 31st season in Collegeville with a 336-129-48 (.702) career record and a 217-69-30 (.734) MIAC record.
