COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior Brian Horst's (Stillwater, Minn.) second goal of the game 2:52 into the second overtime gave Saint John's a 3-2 win over Hamline Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Collegeville.

Hamline's Drew Lukas scored a breakaway goal after a SJU defender slipped and fell down just 2:31 into the match to give the visiting Pipers an early 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Colin Hall (Maple Grove, Minn.) tied the game at 1-1 on a header off a free kick by fellow sophomore Austin Neuburger (Freehold, N.J./Allentown) at the 39:06 mark of the first half.

The Johnnies took a 2-1 lead on Horst's first goal of the game, his fourth of the season, in the 47th minute (47:14).

Hamline, however, tied the game on a penalty kick by Lukas with 4:13 remaining in regulation.

After a scoreless first overtime, Hoffman and senior Levi Lowell (Stillwater, Minn.) weaved through the Piper defense before finding Horst in front of the net for the game-winning goal.

Junior Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) made eight saves to improve his record to 8-3 on the season.

SJU outshot the Pipers 29-15 in the game (10-10 shots on goal).

The Johnnies have now won 26 of the last 28 meetings with Hamline.

SJU (9-4, 4-3 MIAC) hosts Loras, Iowa for a 2 p.m. match this Sunday, Oct. 12 at Durenberger Field in Collegeville.
