Bio
• Doug Schueller (SHOE-ler) is in his 18th season as SJU's head hockey coach in 2025-26. He became the 22nd head coach in school history on May 16, 2008.
• He was named the 2019-20 MIAC Coach of the Year for the second time of his career (2012-13) after directing the Johnnies to a MIAC regular-season championship during the 2019-20 season. 

2024-25 Season
• SJU tied for third in the MIAC with an 8-7-1 record (11-14-1 overall) and made its seventh MIAC Playoff appearance in the last nine seasons.

2023-24 Season
• The Johnnies tied for fifth in the MIAC with a 6-9-1 record (9-12-4 overall), which included two losses decided during the 3-on-3 overtime. 

2022-23 Season
• The Johnnie hockey team finished third in the MIAC with a 9-5-2 record (13-10-3 overall) in 2022-23 and made its fifth consecutive appearance in the MIAC Playoffs. SJU faced Augsburg outdoors on Jan. 27 as part of Hockey Day Minnesota in White Bear Township and earned a thrilling 5-4 win in overtime. Defenseman Mason Campbell ’26 was one of 18 student-athletes named to the All-USCHO Rookie first team.

2021-22 Season
• SJU finished third in the MIAC with a 9-4-1 record (17-8-2 overall) and made its fourth consecutive appearance in the MIAC Playoffs.

2019-20 Season
• The Johnnies went 8-2 over the final 10 conference games (6-0 on the road) to win their ninth MIAC regular-season championship with a 9-3-4 record (12-9-5 overall) in 2019-20. It was the third consecutive MIAC Playoff appearance, and seventh overall, for SJU under Schueller.

2018-19 Season
• SJU went 4-1-2 over its final seven conference games to finish second in the MIAC for the second consecutive season with a 9-4-3 conference record (12-10-5 overall). SJU made its sixth trip to the MIAC Playoffs in the previous eight years and fell to Augsburg in the MIAC Championship game, 2-1 in four overtimes

2017-18 Season
• The Johnnies finished second in the MIAC, one point from the regular-season championship, with an 11-5 conference record (16-8-2 overall). The 11 conference wins were the most since the 2005-06 season for SJU.

Past Experience
• Schueller was a 2001 graduate of Bowling Green and a three-time captain for the Falcons. As a student-athlete at Bowling Green, the Inver Grove Heights, Minn. native played in 138 career games, recording 16 goals and 30 assists as a defenseman. Schueller was an assistant captain for the Falcons as a sophomore during the 1998-99 season and then wore the captain’s "C" in both the 1999-00 and 2000-01 seasons, with the Falcons advancing to the CCHA semifinals his senior year.
• Schueller graduated from Bowling Green with a degree in sports management and finished his Falcon career with a 3.59 grade-point average. He went on to complete his Master's degree (business administration in sports management) from the University of Coventry Business School (Coventry, England) in 2005. 
• Following his playing career, Schueller was an assistant coach with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL). During the 2005-06 season, Schueller helped coach the Stampede to a 43-13-4 (.750) record and the Anderson Cup championship. Schueller worked primarily with the Stampede defense that finished first overall in the USHL and set a franchise record for fewest goals allowed in a season with 135. He also helped six defensemen secure NCAA Division I scholarships. Prior to his time with the Stampede, Schueller played three years in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
• Prior to becoming the head coach at SJU, Schueller served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University and was responsible for the Falcons’ defensemen and recruiting efforts.

• Schueller and his wife, Carrie, reside in Sartell with their daughter, Aubree, and sons, Dawson and Luca.
