Senior Mark Steelman (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels) led the Johnnies with a pair of wins in the 7-2 victory over Division I South Dakota State on March 21 in Sartell. Steelman started the 2.5-hour match with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles and later paired up with junior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.), who won his singles match (6-3, 6-1) at No. 4, to earn an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Steelman is 6-4 in singles action (5-3 in dual competition) and 7-4 in doubles play (6-3 in dual competition).
The Johnnies (6-4, 2-1 MIAC) return to action with a 5 p.m. match on Friday, March 27, against St. Cloud State at Gold’s Gym in Sartell.
