Saint John’s junior guard Mitchell Kuck (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) averaged 20.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 29 minutes per game as SJU went 3-1 last week. He shot 58.2 percent (32-for-55) from the field, including 68.8 percent (22-for-32) from inside the arc, and tallied three 20-point games on the week.
He has seven 20-point games on the year and 11 for his career. Kuck is second in the MIAC (conference games only) in both three-pointers made (38 of 95) and steals per game (1.8), and is fourth in scoring (15.6 ppg.).
The Johnnies (14-9, 12-6 MIAC) can clinch the third seed and a first-round home game in next week’s MIAC Playoffs with a win at Augsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Minneapolis. SJU ends the regular-season with an alumni reunion and Senior Day against Gustavus Adolphus at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in Sexton Arena.
