Saint John's senior guard Patrick Butcher (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) made one of his first three shots of the game before going 6-for-7 (2-for-3 from three-point) to spark SJU with 18 points in the first half, including eight in the final 3:42 before halftime, in the 77-69 upset of No. 10 St. Thomas on Jan. 20 in Collegeville. He led four Johnnies in double figures with 20 points and added four assists.

Butcher currently leads the MIAC (all games) with a .511 shooting percentage (23-for-45) from three-point range and is second on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and assists (24). He entered his senior season shooting 30 percent (21-for-70) from behind the arc in 74 previous games.

The Johnnies (7-8, 5-5 MIAC) travel to face Saint Mary's for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 25, in Winona.
